About The Role
The Forestry Solutions Specialist is responsible for defining how UAV technology can be applied within the forestry industry. This role works closely with customers, field teams, and internal stakeholders to translate forestry challenges, such as timber cruising, forest inventory, silviculture surveys, and wildfire risk assessment, into practical and repeatable operational workflows.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of forestry operations and the ability to connect industry needs with UAV-enabled solutions. The Forestry Solutions Specialist ensures workflows are aligned with real-world operating conditions, validated in the field, and continuously refined to deliver reliable outcomes for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Workflow Development
- Develop and define UAV-enabled workflows for forestry applications, including timber cruising, forest inventory, silviculture surveys, and wildfire risk assessment.
- Identify operational challenges and align UAV solutions to meet customer and industry needs.
- Establish workflow standards, inputs, outputs, success criteria, and documentation requirements.
- Continuously refine workflows based on field validation, customer feedback, and operational results.
Technical Advisory & Customer Engagement
- Serve as a forestry subject matter expert during customer discussions, solution design sessions, and support activities.
- Help define solution approaches and expected outcomes based on customer requirements.
- Provide guidance on real-world applications, best practices, and operational considerations.
- Support customer communications, presentations, and technical consultations.
Sales & Market Support
- Support sales teams by translating forestry challenges into solution-focused conversations.
- Participate in demonstrations, tradeshows, industry events, and customer engagements.
- Contribute industry expertise to support market positioning and business development activities.
Field Operations & Solution Validation
- Participate in field deployments and forestry operations to validate workflows in real-world conditions.
- Support mission planning and execution alongside operations teams.
- Evaluate workflow performance and identify gaps between expected and actual results.
- Ensure solutions are practical, repeatable, and aligned with operational constraints.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with GIS, data, and technical teams to ensure workflows align with data processing requirements and deliverables.
- Work with internal stakeholders to capture, standardize, and improve operational processes.
- Integrate customer, field, and operational feedback into workflow enhancements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase solution effectiveness and scalability.

Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Geomatics/GIS, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in the forestry sector (e.g., forest management, silviculture, timber harvesting, wildfire management, or forest inventory)
- Demonstrated ability to translate industry challenges into structured, repeatable workflows and validate them against real-world field conditions
- Strong customer-facing or advisory experience, with proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally across Sales, Operations, and GIS/Data teams
- Transport Canada RPAS Pilot Certificate preferred.
- Familiarity with LiDAR, or photogrammetry tools/software are considered assets
Compensation package
- Competitive salary: $80,000 – $115,000 CAD
- Hybrid work environment (combination of in-office and remote work)
